Things I Love Thursday

(weheartit)

I love browsing through We Heart It looking at the pretty pictures.
I love making smoothies with almond milk every morning (and adding a dash of cinnamon).
I love traveling so much it makes my heart ache when I go without, and now I have plans to visit Memphis for a weekend in just a few short weeks (!!)
I love having free places to stay when I travel (anyone want to let me stay on their couch for a while? ha ha).
I love my dog, who has been suffering loudly for the past few weeks by whining and moaning and crying for us at night time.
I love taking walks with my neighbour.
I love sitting in cafes drinking frozen drinks with too much sugar and writing.
I love dreaming up possibilities.
I love doing yoga, and I need to get back to it.
I love Sarah Wilson’s I Quit Sugar ebook.
I love The Lion King and watching it in 3D this week was amazing.

Starting on Saturday, I’m going to be doing Gala’s Radical Self Love Bootcamp. So be prepared to hear about it. :)

I think it might be time to retire Things I Love Thursday here at Melanie Kristy. TILT was never my own creation (all credit goes to Gala Darling, though she encourages others to share) and I need to find my own way. This isn’t the end of the love lists, just the beginning of my own.

Things I Love Thursday

I missed out on last week, it seems like blogging is hit or miss these days. Stay tuned so I can fix that!!!

<3 mini things from Starbucks
<3 taking photographs of books I want to read
<3 browsing bookstores
<3 writing sessions at cafes
<3 the goal of 1000 words per day which I have not met since I made it, but I have written 2000 words so far this week so that’s definitely a start
<3 the word Whimsy
<3 Chipotle burritos
<3 I’m re-reading the Gingerbread, Shrimp and Cupcake books by Rachel Cohn. Loving them.
<3 Brainstorming Halloween costume ideas. So far I’m torn between Hello Kitty, The Pink Power Ranger (Kimberly!) and Max from Where The Wild Things Are.
<3 Sleeping in even though that means going to doctor’s appointments (those are not on my love list)

Pink Champange cupcakes

Marylou’s Iced Coffee

Chicken dosas

Lilies & the other flowers at my house

*The English subtitles in Harry Potter (according to them, everyone pants a lot, there’s lots of noble themes playing and at one point Snape’s name is Snipe). It was a fluke that we saw it in this format, the subtitles just happened to be playing at the showing we chose.
* dancing all night at weddings
* spending hours talking about books and movies
* self revelations
* plans for a beach picnic
* it’s getting closer and closer to FALL
* starting a Gilmore Girls marathon
* steel gray
* researching vitamins
* selling books online
* adding more things to my life list (ride in a Hot Air Balloon & go to Rocky Horror Pictureshow)

Things I Love

*posting these on days that aren’t Thursday, apparently

*I’ve been reading a lot. Especially this week.
*This week I read:
Forever by Maggie Stiefwater
Julie & Julia by Julie Powers
Ordinary Beauty by Laura Wiess
And I picked up In The Woods by Tana French again. I had left
off  halfway through, troubled by all of the murder stories that
were bubbling up all around me in the media.
* the fact that I have an air conditioner in my bedroom. the heat index is 109 degrees today. i can’t imagine not being somewhere cool
* looking up recipes to make bread and cheese
* Gala Darling’s announcement about her Radical Self Love Bootcamp
* my 8 week long online writing class and all of the wonderful, supportive girls I’ve met through it.
* Spending a lot of time with myself, mostly reading (though that makes me unproductive). I’m looking forward to spending a lot more time to myself in the future.
* It’s possible that my throat is healing!!! (And that I was poisoning myself all although via accidental rust inhalation every night.)
* Looking at Ford Fiestas online and trying to decide if I want to buy one or lease one or just keep on looking.
* E-mails offering me free things, like facial cleanser by Bare Escentuals and reward certificates from Best Buy
* Borders. My heart is broken, now the closest bookstore is at least a forty minute drive, but I still love the memories.

Things I Love Thursday – Harry Potter Style

(weheartit)

So, it’s no longer Thursday, but I’m sitting here in a post Harry Potter hangover, seeking hydration (I ate way too many Salt N Vinegar chips) thinking, well I haven’t posted all week. I’ve been sick (with what might be a third case of strep throat in four months. Or just a whole lot of tonsil problems?). I’ve decided to do a Things I Love  Harry Potter list incorporating the books and movies alike. (I started this post on Friday, and now it’s Saturday and I’m finishing it.  And it was supposed to post way before this. Somehow I managed to fail at pressing “publish”) Here are just a few things, because honestly there are few things that I don’t love about Harry Potter’s world.

* Midnight book releases and movie premiers The experience is worth doing at least once (though you no long can with Harry Potter) for the excitement and character all around.
* Alan Rickman. He’s just amazing as Snape.
* The Wonderful World of Harry Potter theme park. I’ve yet to find someone willing to commit to spending a day or two with me roaming the streets of Hogsmeade and riding through Hogwarts Castle, but I will someday. Or maybe I’ll just take myself on a grand adventure.
* Butterbeer and Pumpkin Pasties. A lot of the foods mentioned in Harry Potter books aren’t to my liking, but then there are the sweets and these two particular creations that I’d love to try. Also, Pumpkin Juice
* The Room Of Requirement – a secret room in Hogwarts that becomes anything you need it to become at just the time you need it. It’s been a bathroom, a hiding place and a place to practice Defense Against the Dark Arts spells.
* The Loyalty. Harry remains “Dumbledore’s man, through and through” as he admits to in Half Blood Prince. Even when truths are revealed about Dumbledore’s past, even when Harry realizes that Dumbledore has led him through this journey with the idea that Harry must die at the end, Harry remains true to Dumbledore. Snape’s loyalty to Lily Potter may seem flaky by his obvious hatred for her son, but in reality, this hatred is stemmed by the existence of the man who one Lily’s heart; James Potter. And even after their deaths, Snape is willing to remain loyal to Lily. He plays an incredibly believable double agent to the point where no one is really sure where his loyalty lies until the very end of the series.
* Love. This theme is reinforced in every book. Love is more important than anything else.
* Lune Lovegood. She’s quirky and strange, she believes in creatures that other Harry Potter characters don’t think exist and she’s loyal and friendly. She’s adorable and unintentionally hilarious. Luna lives inside her head in her own world, but she’s there for the characters when they — and the story — need it most. Luna is on the list of favorite characters for me, most definitely.
* Owls carry mail. And they’re pets. Totally cool.

Things I Love Thursday

I missed last week, oops! I’ve been slacking on posting lately, but not really slacking on writing (so that is good). I hurt my left hand… possibly from writing too hard on my bed. Ironic. And annoying. Anyway, here are the things that I love this week:

* Drive In movies
* cute nails
* cleaning out stuff in my basement, donating a ton of stuff and throwing other stuff out
* making lists of more things I want to do
* heart shaped sun glasses
* starting an online book club (details to come)
* wine tasting on Cape Cod
* Cranberry wine that tastes like Sangria
* finally trying Escarot (in the form of rangoons)
* I’m taking an online writing class, it’s only just begun but I’m already super stoked about it
* planning on taking dance classes starting extremely soon
* huge lobster rolls
* long car rides
* hoop dance
* “let obsession be your guide”
* smoothies for breakfast
* I have tickets to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 twice in the same 24 hour period.
* Provincetown, MA

I know it’s Friday. I’m a day behind. But better late than never, right? Also, I’ve included some of my other friends’ lists, too.

I’m channeling my older self today, past lives. I am counting on the nostalgia I just recently wrote about. Remembering what it is that I love, because it feels like this week I’ve forgotten. So all of these things might be repeats, but that’s okay. It’s good to remind yourself of things you love.

e-mails from Olga describing me, “lately ive been thinking about individuals in my life and how i would describe them to others. i guess the way i’d describe you is like a freshly made cupcake. you are bright and delightful to look at, you are soft and full of feelings that make me thing of pastel colors like pink, lavender, and mint green. a moment with you is pretty much how id feel if carebears really existed. i’d call you “feel bear” because everything with you is larger than life as it should be.”

Wearing wigs
Beautiful curvy women – this may need a side note. After visiting family I have realized once again how much stress people put on being thin. I do it too and I’m not even sure why because I don’t think incredibly skinny women are beautiful. Curvy thick women are very attractive. We can be plus size and beautiful and I would like to have words with anyone who says other wise.
Martinis – especially pretty colored ones that have a fruity taste! How classy!
Best friends who have your back – its really nice to know that no one can talk shit about you and get away with it because you have people who love you who wont let that happen.
Romantic comedies – its like a sickness… I have to like them even though it’s the same story over and over again. They just make you long for love and hand holding
Johnny Galecki/Leonard Hofstadter – huge character crush going on over here…
Fresh fruit that is in season
Confirmation that my oil has been shipped
My great grandmothers 103rd birthday!
Believing in magic
Wasting time with online tarot card reading
Pay day and not being broke!
Birthday planning – oh yes, Courtnie is having a birthday and its going to be the shit… be there or be square bitches
